The following links connect you to the website provided by the textbook publisher of our CP and CP2 level Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry textbooks. They include parent resource guides, extra student help and practice exercises. Students taking these courses can also obtain a user id and password from their math teachers that will provide them with access to a complete online copy of their student textbook.
Course Sequences
The Mathematics Program is organized into four typical sequences of courses. Each sequence is designed to enable students to successfully learn mathematics, regardless of their background preparation or ability.
Sequence 1: This sequence is designed for students who have a strong eighth grade background in mathematics and have good mathematical ability. Students normally begin this sequence with Algebra I (CP) as freshmen, followed by Geometry (CP), Algebra II (CP), and Advanced Math (CP). Some students who have been accelerated begin high school with Geometry (CP), followed by Algebra II (CP), Advanced Math (CP) and Calculus. It is also possible for recommended students to enter Algebra IB as freshmen, followed by Geometry (CP), Algebra II (CP) and Advanced Math (CP).
Sequence 2: This sequence is designed for students whose background and/or ability indicates that they need a two-year introduction to their first study of Algebra. Students in this sequence normally elect Algebra IA during their freshmen year, followed by Algebra IB, Geometry (CP2), and Algebra II (CP2).
Sequence 3: This sequence is designed for students who need to complete fundamental mathematical skills in preparation for the more abstract mathematical content of Algebra. Students in this sequence elect Transition to Algebra during their freshmen year, followed by Algebra IA, Algebra IB, and then either Geometry (CP2) or Consumer Math (S).
Sequence 4: This is the honors-level mathematics sequence. It is designed for students who have a very strong mathematical ability and wish to study mathematics to a greater depth than is normally covered at the high school level. Students in this sequence take Algebra I (H), Geometry (H), Algebra II (H), and Advanced Math (H). During their senior year, recommended students often choose to take both the Advanced Math (H) and Calculus (H) courses.
Although most students typically select one of the four course sequences, there is flexibility to allow a student to move from one sequence to another. Movement from one course to the next within a sequence, or from one sequence to another, is based on student achievement and teacher recommendation.
Note: Geometry, Algebra II and Advanced Math are offered at the Honors, CP and CP2 levels. Algebra I is offered at the Honors and CP levels.
When registering for any math course, it is expected that the student has the recommendation of his/her current teacher and has maintained an 80 average in the prerequisite course.
