Learning Center Mission Statement

The Learning Center at Greely High School will provide students with academic and emotional support to help them to become successful, self- reliant students, who meet class expectations and have high personal aspirations.

Goals of the Learning Center

• To help students develop skills so they will become more self-reliant.

• To provide students with individualized support so they will attain their academic potential.

• To encourage students to know and understand their strengths and weaknesses and to use this knowledge to support their academic efforts.

• To raise students' aspirations and awareness about post-secondary opportunities.

• To provide an opportunity for students to develop a relationship with an adult mentor who will monitor the students' academic progress and will support the students' efforts to reach their academic potential. The mentor will provide academic assistance and will communicate with parents and school personnel to support the student's efforts in the classroom.

• To provide a caring and supportive environment where students:

• Feel free to ask questions, clarify assignments and learn self-advocacy skills

• Learn and apply study skills

• Work cooperatively with other students

• Have access to resources and supplies that contribute to their academic success
